Golf travel in 2020...

Turkey

Of the recent emerging golf destinations, Turkey has created among the best modern golf facilities for the golf traveler. This gateway to the east offers so many great resorts, mingled with the opportunity to divuleg in cultural diversity.

Getting there is reasonably simple with direct flight to the major destinations and hotel options are readily available. A lower cost is also a big pull and a better understanding of local hospitality is also earning them an improved reputation. New developments include an Annika Sorenstam-inspired course and Olivion and a new course at Belek Golf Club opening soon.
Egypt

Steeped in history and a with a perfect climate for golf, Egypt is fast emerging as an accessible and developing destination for golfers.

One of the best is likely to be The Allegria, operated by Troon Golf, near Cairo, a course designed by Greg Norman and opened in July.

The only question mark is how much does the European holiday golfer need convincing that Egypt is a must play desitnation? It requires serious investment in promotion but Egypt definitely gets our attentionwith its promise of world class golf
Greece

With its sporting traditions and its islands favoured by millions of Europeans, we're amazed how this region has not yet found golf as being a key indicator to capture more visitors.

However, with Costa Navarino devised by Temes one of the world’s premier shipping companies and located near Pylos in the region of Messinia this Bernhard Langer-designed course could well prove a catalyst for the golfing tourist. A second Robert Trent Jones Jnr course is also being shaped at the development which will hopefully kick-start a Greek golfing revolution.

The only downside currently is travel, demanding a change at Athens to reach Kalamata, the development's nearest airport. Is it worth it? Well the location is stunning and every detail has been catered for a we think it's worth the extra hassle.
Morocco

A region that has long pin-pointed golf as an area of real interest to its burgeoning Tourism operators. And plans were laid down as early as 1999 for the Plan Azur by his Highness King Mohammed IV with the aim to increase tourism traffic to Morocco to 10 million visitors.

With great beaches and guaranteed weather, cultural diversity and history, it has all made for terrific destination. Throw in its close proximity to Europe, reasonably easy airport access to major cities and Morocco has all the ingredients to be a cheap, exotic - and safe - place to play golf.

With a flying time of only four hours to its major airports - similar to Tenerife - Morocco could yet prove the jewel in the crown of North African golf.

Among the leading resorts to look out for are Sadia the only one facing the Med, though on the Algerian border its accessibility is a key issue, while elsewhere Mazagan has opened, with the highly lucrative tag of a Gary Player golf course design. Morocco’s persistence is unquestionable and they're blessed with a supreme location. We're confident golfers will relish the opportunity to go there.
