Watney's Scotty Cameron love-in

Nick Watney stood on the 10th tee of his third round at the AT&T National six shots off the pace after carding bogeys at 8 and 9 for a level-par outward nine. Yet instead of thinking, walking and swinging fast, discount golf clubs like he did when blowing his final-round lead with an 81 at Whistling Straits 11 months ago, the only rapid movements this time around were up the leaderboard as Watney put in the putting performance of the season on the weekend.

The Fresno State Californian, who put a new Scotty Cameron Titleist Studio Select Fastback putter in the bag this week,TaylorMade Burner 2.0 Irons needed just 11 putts on Saturday's back nine to card a sensational 8-under 27 – for a course-record 62 at Aronimink Golf Club. "With 27 holes to go in the tournament, I was really just trying to play my way back in and then for some reason, the hole just got bigger for me," said the World No.10 Watney.

And the steam continued to pour off Watney's putter once more on Sunday, saving pars with three putts longer than 17-feet on the front nine, as well as a clutch 5-foot putt on the par-4 15th to move two clear of KJ Choi. "I was seeing the lines really, really well this weekend," added Watney, who ranked second in putts per green, with 25 putts on Saturday and 26 on Sunday. "It was fun to putt like that under pressure."

The Titleist brand ambassador, who bagged his second title of the season on Sunday, also ranked tenth in driving accuracy and fourth in distance - suggesting he could be the man to put a giant red circle around for the Open Championship, starting next Thursday.Callaway FT-iZ Fairway Wood Watney's Titleist 910-D3 driver delivers longer distance through a technologically advanced head design with a responsive, fast face insert.
